José de Guadalupe

Jose de Guadalupe is a Flamenco dancer and instructor who offers classes to adults in Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina.
            Jose has studied flamenco dance for over 17 years having begun in southern Spain with Marisol Couchiero from Sevilla while living there for 4 years.  After returning to the United States, he continued his studies in Philadelphia and later 8 years under the instruction of Gloria de Jerez from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.  His residency with Jerez dance and performance expression became the greatest influence in his own artistic styling.
            After moving to South Carolina, Jose continued his training and performing in Atlanta, and attended the annual flamenco workshop conferences held at the National Institute of Flamenco in Albuquerque, NM; which allowed him the opportunity to study with visiting masters from Spain, such as La Farruca, Andres Marin, & Mercedes Amaya.
            Jose is an independent performing artist, Arts Programmer, and a member of the SC Arts Commission’s Roster of Approved Artists for the Arts in Education program (AIE).  He has performed with renowned international Flamenco performers, singer/guitarist Jose Galvez, equally acclaimed guitarist Pedro Pimentel, popular flamenco singer Rocio Soto, & flamenco dancer Gloria de Jerez.
            Jose has performed, produced, and collaborated on several theatrical productions in Virginia Beach, VA; Atlanta, GA and Greenville, SC.
